Microsoft has released Notepad 11 a brand new version on Thursday. This will enable Windows Insiders to access multiple tabs from the Dev channel.
This new feature will be available with Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25281 on the Dev Channel.
“With this update we are introducing support to multiple tabs-a top-requested feature from the community-where you can create, manage and organize multiple file in one Notepad window,” Dave Grochocki. He is a principal product manager at Microsoft.
Drag a tab into a separate window to continue working with files. A new setting allows you to choose whether the file opens in a new tab or new window.
Redmond also supports keyboard shortcuts to manage Notepad tabs, and has made management improvements for unassigned files.
Grochocki said that there are new shortcut keys for tab management as well as improvements in managing unsaved file, such as automatically creating the file title/tab title based upon content and an updated unsaved change indicator.
Microsoft has already warned users about potential issues with this feature.
